Australian Fairy Opal Bracelet

This fairy opal bracelet is handmade from 38.5 carats of AAA grade solid Australian fairy opal from Queensland, Australia. The opal displays bright reds and greens with a few blues on a deep chocolate brown/black base and is accented with sterling silver daisy spacers. The bracelet is finished with a large and fairly weighty sterling silver 's-clasp', silver beads and bullion.

This fair opal bracelet has been fully hallmarked by the London Assay Office and stamped with Sugarpuss London's unique studio maker's mark.

Fairy opal is a type of treated matrix opal - it is still a naturally mined stone but the opal is given a hot sugar bath treatment that turns the original sandy brown matrix a deep black/brown, which is a) more attractive and b) helps the colours pop out more. It is a lovely kind of opal with colours scattered in pin prick or confetti pattern all over the stone (in fact, it is sometimes known as confetti opal). We had lots of different grades of fairy opal available to us when we purchased our stones and we opted for the highest.
