In 1916, famed French jeweler Jacques Cartier bought his landmark store in New York's famous Fifth Avenue by trading two pearl necklaces for the valuable property.  Back then, pearls were only accessible to the rich and famous, as the process of pearl cultivation discovered by Mikimoto, hadn't really been exploited.  Today pearl jewellery can be enjoyed by all - whether you choose coin pearls, nugget pearls or more traditional pearls, they are available in many different grades and price brackets.
